What’s the rush? Take it easy for 3 days as you make your way down the waterways of Lao from Vang Vieng to Vientiane.orVientiane to
Day 1: Your “slow boat” will meet you on the Nam Song at Vang Vieng, where you will travel down the river to Kahn Mak Village. From here you will get another boat to Nam Ngum Lake where you will spend the night sleeping in bungalows on Don Mua Island – amongst traditional Lao fishermen, farms and gardens.
Day 2: After breakfast the next morning you will spend the day exploring Nam Ngum Lake and witness local people working in their gardens, villagers catching fish with nets and maybe even some herds of buffalo cooling off in the waters.
Night two will be spent on the southern shores of the lake, at Dokkoun Kham Guesthouse or Nam Ngum View Resort, and you can have dinner at a restaurant over the waters. Here you can watch how Lao fishermen use fire to catch fish in the night.
Day 3: In the morning of Day 3, after breakfast, your “slow boat” will continue down the Nam Ngum River until you reach Vientiane. All along the way you will see the traditional Lao lifestyle and experience some of the most beautiful scenery in Laos.
After such an experience you will wonder why you ever considered getting the crowded bus.
OPTION 1: You don’t have 3 days to spare? Then talk to us about a shorter version of this tour – a 1-day or 2-day adventure instead.
OPTION 2: Coming from Nong Khai (Thailand) or Vientiane? We can meet you at either The Friendship Bridge or Nam Phou (fountain) and do this tour in reverse; from Vientiane to Vang Vieng.
